What a week!
If you have read the title of this post then you know that we have officially made it to our home here on Wakenaam. We are so excited to be here and are glad for our friends that have helped us along the way. (Seriously, couldn't have done it without you.)
Our flight plan had us in Toronto for a full day. This was so nice because we were able to meet new friends! New for some of us at least. They were so awesome and really made us feel at home. If you follow us on Instagram then you already know that they took us to so many cool sights and afterward even dropped us off at the airport. They went way above and beyond in showing their love.

Airports never seem to get easier to navigate though. And we had a bit of a time getting to our gate. By the time we picked up our luggage that we had put in storage for the night and made it to the check in line we were half dead.
We were definitely able to see Jehovah's hand in things because when we made it to the counter the woman who checked us in for the flight went above and beyond and made sure that we were all sitting together, even though we didn't pay for it, and also did not charge us extra for overweight bags or extra bags. Needless to say we were very happy.
Arriving to Guyana our amazing friend Toni pick us up from the airport and even got us a bus. She was so nice to even arrange us getting bikes and helping us change phone carriers. (Making us able to have precious internet.) She also got us a good deal on our boat ride onto the island.

As you may be able to see from the above picture the bus was completely loaded down. Getting around Guyana was not meant to be done with lots of things.
But after all of this travelling with so many suitcases I think it's true to say that we feel like we have been travelling for years. We all appreciated being able to take a cool shower after everything was said and done.
Unfortunately Guyana is experiencing a bit of a heatwave right now and these hotter than normal temperatures even have the locals saying it's hot. Of course, we decided that we would take it easy for a few days.
Taking it easy may sound nice and relaxing but we still have quite a bit of work to do! We have about half of our things unpacked but had to stop due to a lack of storage. Today we hope to build a closet to put our clothes and maybe a shelf as well. We know it will be so nice once we have everything set up the way we would like.
We want to be able to share with you all of what we are doing here on the island. And don't worry we are taking tons of pictures.

We hope everyone back home is doing well. We will be posting on our normal scheduled soon.
As a personal favor we hope the next time an icy breeze tumbles and you turn on your heater or put a log on your fire that you take a moment and appreciate it for us.
Until next time,
Emily, Tori, Jillian, and Laura
