Hello everyone! We are all so excited to be posting our first post on our new and improved blog. It is such a blessing to be able to go back and pioneer in Guyana.
As we post we will go into further detail about our lives there. We have some really fun ideas that we cant wait to share with you all. But for now we wanted to reintroduce ourselves with our first post, this one being about something we have all done... Packing.
We will be sharing our top 5 tips about packing, and maybe some of these tips will come in handy as you travel to old places or new.
1. Take things out of their packages.
This sounds fairly obvious yet it could be something you forget to do. It's a great packing bonus because not only does it help to save space in your suitcase (We need all of the help we can get). It also helps prevent you from the possibility of getting taxed on these items as well.
2. Wrap your belongings in the towels that you bring.
Space saver! Plus the added security of knowing some of your more breakable items are safe and sound bundled up in a cozy towel.
3. Tape your makeup closed.
We've all been there before. Getting off the plane and getting to the luggage pick up only to see that your suitcase has lost the fight along the way, looking battered and worn almost like it was drug behind the plane on the flight.
In that moment a horrified thought hits you that in that sad little beaten case all of your expensive makeup, face wash, shampoo, ect. has spilled all over the rest of your clothes.
To prevent such a catastrophe from happening simply take some scotch tape and tape the lids closed on products old and new. Now you can fly worry free.
For extra security you may want to put some items in a plastic bag. (You'll be happy to have it when you unpack as well.)
4. Keep a list of everything that you bring.
This can help not only when you are ready to unpack but can also help you keep track of things that you may still need to get.
5.Take advantage of small spaces.
Never underestimate the space you can save by combining different things.
Putting smaller items such as jewelry, socks, underwear, hair ties and more inside of other things like shoes, cups, or that tea pot you just need to take with you can make a world of difference. Using a pro packing tip like this separates you from the novices.
Bonus. If you plan on staying for an extended period of time in a place unfamiliar to you go ahead and pack something that is special to you, something that will make you feel more at home.
While we love having new experiences and seeing new things, coming back to a comfortable home at the end of a long day surrounded by things that bring a smile to your face is a huge bonus! We took the liberty of packing a few of these so called 'luxury' items and we hope to be able to use them in making our new home a bit more special.
There you have it! Our first official post.
As before mentioned, we have a ton of great plans for what we want to share with everyone on this blog. Feel free to look around at the different tabs to get a feel for what's to come.
Stay tuned for more of our adventure.
