Happy Sunday!

I know that it seems a while since our last post and that would be because it has been.

It's the classic story of people and their need for internet. Of course, we have been waiting for ours for quite some time. As per usual everyone here runs on what we call "island time", that is another term for slow.

We are remaining hopeful that our problem will be fixed tomorrow and at the very latest later this week.

In the meantime we wanted to share what we have been up to since we have been here nearly one whole month! It really doesn't seem like it has been that long at all.

One thing that is very strange/funny is that even though it is the end of November it remains Summer temperature here.

The summery view from our bike ride back from the hall. The water from the rice fields reflects the setting sun.

As mentioned in our previous post we have been having a special campaign to share videos in Guyanese Creole here in Guyana. We were even able to have a special talk given in Guyanese creole. We were surprised to hear that in a neighboring congregation off the island in Parika had 190 in attendance!

It is so exciting to help with the work here and even though things still may be slow moving in some areas it is always encouraging to see so many wanting to draw closer to Jehovah!

We would like to share some of our pictures from our trip to Parika where we went to the market and went shopping for groceries.

On the bus heading to the boats to get to Parika.

Getting to enjoy ice cream on the mainland.

They do have stores that you can go into but they are different in many ways from the stores back home.

When you first go to enter you have to put your bag/purse in a locker at the front of the store, some places even have a booth where you can put your bag.

The selection of items is different as well.

There isn't any produce because you get that from the carts on the street.

The street carts sell items ranging from foods like cakes, fruits, drinks; to other things like earrings or tarps.

There is always a bustle of activity when you go to town and the best part of it all is that there is a coconut stand on just about every corner.
